The Dyes weekend has happened at least once before - can't remember the exact date but it was post-Nightfall.

If any of the devs are still reading this thread, I have another idea that I came up with last night.

First, let me say that most of all I like the variety presented in the weekend events. I don't like every weekend idea. There were a few recently that were just "bleah, oh well I needed to clean the house anyways" weekends. However from reading the last few pages I see that even the ones I didn't like were loved by many folks and that's the most important thing, offering a variety of options so that everyone has an enjoyable event at least once per month.

My idea won't appeal to everyone. Some players will love it, some will think it's the worst idea ever and others will just clean the house that weekend.

I'd like to try and stir up some interest in AB Battles again. There are 3 types of players out there.
- Players that love AB Battles
- Players that hate AB Battles
- Players that have never tried them for 1 reason or another.
This weekend event should appeal to types 1 and 3. Type 2 will be on the forums griping about a wasted weekend. Like I said, you can't please everyone.

The scenario is this. (Storyline only, no player participation) Early Friday morning the Kurzicks stage an early morning raid into Luxon territory. They kill lots of Luxons and the Luxon elders are infuriated. They retaliate with a vengenance and slay many innocent Kurzicks. This sparks an all out war that can only be settled in blood and thus sets the stage for the weekend.

All guilds are hereby called upon to fight for their chosen faction. During the weekend you'll be expected to participate in Alliance battles and must donate your earned faction to your guild thru the faction transfer option. A running total of Kurzick and Luxon faction totals are displayed all weekend and the side that accumulates the most faction over the weekend is declared the winner. Everyone that contributed to the winning army receives a special prize in their inventory at the end of the event. Perhaps a new minipet or some other unique item.

- In order to win the prize, you must have contributed at least <X> faction to the winning team. (X=50,000?)
- Anyone who contributes at least <X> faction to their guild receives a smaller prize even if their side loses the war. (10 pints of beer perhaps? Something wanted by most players yet not something that is worth a ton of gold)

This should be a fun way to generate interest in AB battles as well as bring back some of the better PvP players to AB and you'll also be working on your Friends of the Luxons/Kurzicks title at the same time.

1. Access to FoW and UW*
2. Access to Factions missions*
3. Triple green drops
4. 4-leaf clover drops
5. Double dye drops

* I care most about free access weekends, but I can't say it is a good thing to have messed up access systems most of the time, and pretend you're doing us a big favor by removing these messed up systems and having things the way they should be for an odd weekend here and there.

Another idea. Explorer weekend, where over the course of a weekend, you take an explorer quest and monsters spawns are cut in half..

1. Special Events (Wintersday, Halloween, New Year's, etc.) including special event items (e.g. Candy Canes, Lunar Fortunes, etc.)
2. Special Item Drops (e.g. Four-Leaf Clovers, Ale, etc.)
3. Gamer Weekend (including special items obtainable from things like victory tokens)
4. Double Chance of Drops: Rare Chest Loot
5. Double Chance of Drops: Rare (gold) drops, Unique (green) drops

I really enjoyed the special limited-time quests like those during Wintersday. Would be cool to have more of those!

* Shamrock Ale and Four-Leaf Clover
* Rare Chest Loot
* Rare (gold) drops

- sth to make more people do missions with *real* people... rare/more drops in missions with human play

edit:
I loove TheRaven's idea with the AB weekend ^^ I fall into category 1, but my guildies are all tired of ab after gettin their titles and I have no one to play with now

Special drops (Shamrock Ale and Four-Leaf Clover)
Rare Chest Loot
Access to The Fissure of Woe and The Underworld

I would have included green drop weekends over chests, but I got very frustrated with the last couple of those. Chest drops make for an expensive weekend event, but I generally benefit from them.

Here's a couple of suggestions:

Increased Rare Material drops and salvage chances. I'm currently thinking about getting Vabbi armour for a couple of my characters, so that would be very useful.

Also, I agree with the comment above - use gold/green drop increases to encourage teamplay. Have drop increases that only kick in when a team with at least four human players are playing a mission. Maybe it could be a weekly thing, with each campaign getting a handful of highlighted "focus" missions (say 3, spread throughout the chapter) and each weekend the focus moves to the next set of missions in sequence. That would get everybody playing the same set of missions each weekend and probably help anyone who's stuck in some otherwise deserted or "herocentric" part of GW and struggling to find a PUG.

1 Increased drop keys (though I still almost never see them)
2 Increased drop scrolls
3 Increased drop greens (though I've yet to get a green drop on a green weekend!)
4 Increased drop golds
5 Double XP/Hero XP

The "access weekends" for the most part should be CONSTANT (well, not the mini games ones). Like it's been promised (at least for the access to the Factions elite missions).

My top choice, of course, would be GREATLY increased rare material salvaging and/or dropping.

My top 5:
  • Gamer Weekend (access to Shing Jea Boardwalk, Dragon Arena, Rollerbeetle Racing)
  • Snowball Arena
  • Double Fame
  • Double Faction in Arenas
  • Rare (gold) drops

On-semi-topic:
As I suggested a while back, I still like the idea of having a Game NPC in your Guild Hall, so alliance members + guild members can enjoy a versus game in the minigames (organised/random), besides the scrimmaging. ^^

And yes, make hero battles consecutive.

I'm just waiting for the day of quadruple fame weekend to give those who needs to pump up their hero titles so new people don't keep getting left out.
No monster spawns weekend for those who want cartographer title. Wishful thinking eh?

But seriously, best ones are double fame and double alliance battle factions for me.

Since you have asked our opinion i shall give you mine and it appears to be one of a kind.

All these special weekend used to be just that special.you have wintersday or canthan new years day stuff like that which happens few times a year are fine
butthese special drop or whatever weekends appear to me to be eyecandy stuff to keep bored kids happy so they play your game instead of wow. well i admit i have tried a couple of these special weekend stuff and i get squat but lag.
between the downloads to setup for the weekend or the updates while event going on or the fact so many ppl are in same area lag is horrible. i usually turn off gw and go watch tv during these crappy weekend junk.i say if ppl wanna go play wow well good riddence to bad rubbish. keep the game true to form for us die hard gw fans and keep it simple and playable. discontinue these weekend crap weekends and lets enjoy some good gaming on stable platform.

Idk, to be completely honest I don't think I'm really looking forward to any of the weekend events listed by Gaile. It's not that I don't want to see any of them return or anything, but unless something really origional comes out, I don't think anything will really snag my interest much.

The next big thing I'm looking forward to (besides the next expansion and GW2 of course) is the pet control and bow attack skill update that was talked about by Gaile a long time ago and has not yet come to pass.
